The UK is often underrated in terms of cities when it comes to travelling. Most backpackers and holidaymakers tend to only think of the country as a land of quaint farms and teashops, and few ever venture further than the South. The UK has a whole host of beautiful cities that are steeped in history, and they make excellent places for any world adventurers to explore. Take a quick look at these three favourites below, and see if any take your fancy…
Liverpool

Most people from outside the UK know of Liverpool because of the Beatles and their famous football team, but that’s not all this city has to offer. Liverpool is a maritime heritage site, and the breath-taking Liver (pronounced lie-ver) buildings stand amongst a whole host of ancient docks and warehouses, all remnants from this city’s days as a major UK port that made regular trips to the new-world. This city is also big on promoting creativity, you can find a wonderful selection of museums (including a Tate gallery) and plenty of marketplaces and arcades that host unique and wonderful businesses, cafes and restaurants. You’ll need a little while to explore everything in this city, so stay with Epic Apartments Liverpool, and self cater so you can enjoy all the nearby eateries on Bold Street!
Manchester

Manchester is one of the UK’s major hubs, and it’s a melting pot of culture, providing cuisine from around the world, amazing independent music acts, and a whole selection of wonderful festivals, from Manchester Food Festival to one of the biggest Gay Pride celebrations in the country. Not only that, but thanks to the universities in this city, Manchester is a great place for spotting up and coming fashion designers, and it was even chosen to host Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out this year.
This city is vast, so pack some walking shoes so you can explore all the shops, amazing sushi joints and creatively styled bars and clubs. Manchester can provide a fantastic night out for those who are looking for something a little different.
Chester

Chester is a small city based just off the northern border of Wales – it’s a complete contrast to Manchester and Liverpool, as it provides a much more relaxed and elegant atmosphere. This is a city that has a fantastic history – roman walls surround the city centre, and there’s even a roman amphitheatre and gardens to be found.
Many of Chester’s shops are housed on The Rows, which date back to as far as medieval times, and the entire high street features beautiful black and white timber framed buildings. This is a picturesque city that sits on the River Dee, and even if you stay for just a day it’ll be a lovely experience, especially near Christmas when a brass band plays in the streets!
