Festival season is fast approaching. Prepare for light evenings, sultry acoustic sets played out under warm stage lighting, muddy wellies, pints of cider in paper cups, overpriced food from burger stands: lovely.
It’s easy to remember the bare essentials when packing for a long weekend listening to your favourite bands and rolling around in fields with your best friends. Of course you won’t forget the tent, the sleeping bags and the waterproof jacket. You’re even less likely to forget the multipacks of lager and packets of crisps. But many festival-goers tend to leave behind little items that can help make their trip more enjoyable.
To save you all the hard work of thinking about the boring stuff, we have drawn up a festival survival kit perfect for any music-lover heading to an event this summer.
Think about the morning after
Amidst all your partying antics, don’t forget to plan for the morning after! There’s nothing worse than waking up in the middle of a muddy field with the world’s worst hangover, so pack in advance. Whether that’s by stocking up on paracetamol or taking emergency junk food, be ready to deal with your hangover accordingly. Perhaps you’ve considered milk thistle before? Whatever your choice for over-indulgence, remember to prepare for the worst!
It’s going to be dark!
A good torch is priceless when it comes to festivals. Clambering around dark tents looking for a toothbrush or extra layers to wear is no fun, so make sure you don’t forget this vital piece of festival equipment. If your chosen torch is battery-powered, don’t forget to take some batteries with you!
Get clean
Cleaning water is unfortunately hard to come by at most festivals. Even if you do happen to stumble upon an oasis of showers or washbasins, the likelihood is you’re going to have to queue for hours for the privilege. Yep, conventional washing goes out of the window when it comes to camping out, so make sure you prepare accordingly. A quick scrub with a load of baby wipes while your mate guards you from view with a muddy towel is hardly the most glamorous way of keeping clean, but it will make you feel better. So stock up with plenty of packs of baby wipes, you can never have too many. Also remember to take antibacterial hand sanitiser to keep your paws clean. Invest in a can of dry shampoo to keep your hair looking and feeling fresh for the weekend. Stick to these three cleaning methods and you’ll feel as good as new.
It might be sunny
And finally, don’t be the person confined to your tent crying in pain with sunburn. There is nothing that can put a dampener on a good time quite like a pair of bright red shoulders. So be smart and stock suncream. You’re there to make the most of it.
But most of all; have fun!
