Erawan National Park – Photo Post

After a quick bus ride from Bangkok Vicky and I arrived in Kanchanaburi, where we decided to take a tour of the seven waterfalls at the beautiful Erawan National Park.

Surprise, surprise – Vicky was determined to see all seven waterfalls no matter how much walking it was or how little time we had. The park is really pleasant and despite a few Russian tour groups, not overly crowded. They all manage the litter very well, which is a plus in South East Asia. Definitely worth a trip out there if you’re in the area. The tour we took cost around $27, but it included several other things (to be discussed in a later post).

Low down on the seven waterfalls – all unique in their own way

Some waterfalls are good for swimming, others for gazing, and a few for having fish nimble your feet. Ya, I’ll explain that in a bit. Check them out!

Pretty small, but the basin is much larger

Look at that water roar! (by the way, this is the dry season)

Gorgeous!

tree covering

Not entirely sure why they do this, but I think it’s either to honor the tree/spirit and to protect it from being cut down. It’s illegal/a bad omen to cut down a tree blessed by a monk…

Slippery rocks!

This is where the real feet biting is about to go down – no one else was daring enough to do this…

These are called Doctor fish. Supposedly they eat dead skin off your feet. It’s a huge commercial practice in Thailand (though this was natural). The biting is extremely ticklish, I think.

Does that look comfortable? It’s the bigger ones that are really weird feeling – the smaller ones just nimble.

One more for good measure.

Lucky number 3 – This one is good for swimming
