All-inclusive

If you want to spend your holiday in pure luxury or you’ve been on the road for a few weeks and want to have a break, all-inclusive is a great option. Nowhere else can you enjoy delicious food 24 hours a day, an open bar and just about every amenity you could ever need within one resort.

Luxury hotels offering all-inclusive holidays will most likely have at least one swimming pool but most also offer their guests a hot tub, tennis courts, a private beach, gyms and even water sports. Don’t forget that while all-inclusive usually includes all the basics, such as food, drink, entertainment and standard amenities, things like massages and spas aren’t always part of the price tag.

Villas

If you’re going away or travelling in a large group, renting a private villa can be a fantastic option. You’ll have the benefit of loads of space – there are usually 2 or 3 bedrooms – as well as the household amenities. For inexpensive getaways why not try staying in a villa for your holiday. The majority of holiday villas have a private swimming pool but some might have a hot tub, sun beds and perhaps even a separate granny flat – perfect if you want to escape from the kids!

Apartments

Staying in an apartment, rather than a hotel, has its advantages and if you don’t want to spend your holiday feeling like a tourist (even though you are). Instead, renting an apartment can give you a taste of local flavour. For travellers that are spending long periods of time abroad, it can give you a temporary home away from home. It also means that you’re more likely to have access to kitchen and laundry facilities making your stay more convenient.

Camping

Backpackers will probably opt for camping most nights as it’s one of the cheapest ways to travel abroad. Although it’s a far cry from the 5-star luxury you’ll find in the finest hotels, camping is likely to serve up some of your fondest memories. It’s fun and can feel like more of an adventure but if you’re spending weeks or months travelling you might want to keep some cash by for a couple of nights in a hotel or apartment.

If you’re planning on going on holiday or travelling abroad, it’s wise to weigh up the pros and cons of all your accommodation options so that you make the right decision.
