Where are the best places to enjoy a honeymoon?

If you’re in the planning stages of your wedding, I’m fairly certain that you’ll find the process of organising an amazing day can be quite stressful (even if it’s just occasionally). While there’s not much I can do to make it easier for you, what I can do is offer you some advice on where to go on your honeymoon.

As it the marks the beginning of a married couple’s life together, the honeymoon is something that should be really special and memorable. Of course, once the pressure of arranging a ceremony and reception is all over and done with, I think that you and your partner will deserve the opportunity to get away and take things easy. Knowing that you’re going to be travelling to an amazing destination soon after you get married can even help perk you up if planning a wedding gets a bit too stressful. To give some inspiration of where you can go, I’ve listed a few places you might want to consider heading to.

Antigua

Admittedly, I could choose pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean and you’d be guaranteed to have a fantastic honeymoon, but I’ve decided to pick Antigua. Why? Well this stunning island has 365 beaches for a start, so if you and your partner feel like doing nothing but sunbathing for the first few days of your honeymoon than this will be the ideal place for you. Pigeon Point, Hawksbill Bay and Dickenson Bay are some of the most popular sandy stretches, but I’m quite confident you can find your own special beach.

Of course, there’s much more to think about when booking a honeymoon package in Antigua (something that you can do by clicking here) than just deciding which bay to sunbathe on first. Indeed, you’ll need to consider which resort you’re going to stay in. As the honeymoon is perhaps the most important holiday you’ll ever take I think it’s worth splashing out on a luxury resort.

Depending on where you go and the standard of accommodation you book, you could have your own private suite or villa where you can spend precious time together, not to mention enjoy decadent services such as complimentary champagne and having a private chef prepare a tailor-made meal for you.

Barbados

Another great Caribbean honeymoon destination is Barbados. This is the most easterly island in the region and is considered to benefit from some of the best weather that this part of the world has to offer. Indeed, as the island has an average daily temperature of 26 degrees C, I’m sure you and your partner will soon get into the holiday frame of mind.

Just like Antigua, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to amazing beaches to relax on. Crane Bay, which is situated in the St Philip region, is a particularly good choice though, namely as it features gently sweeping dunes and is backed by gorgeous cliffs. At Heywood Beach, meanwhile, you will find an amazing stretch of golden sand that is lined with trees, while the areas of shallow reef offer great conditions for snorkelling.

Hawaii

Last, but by no means least, Hawaii will make for an astounding honeymoon. While each of the US state’s six major islands are fantastic places for a romantic holiday, I’m going to focus on Maui. With this isle boasting some 50 km of stunning beaches (though its overall coastline stretches to 200 km), you and your partner will certainly find a place where you can relax and sunbathe.

Don’t worry if you want to be more active, as many of these beaches are great for other activities. Kahana, for example, is perfect for windsurfing and diving, while Hamoa offers good conditions for surfing.

Alternatively, you might want to hire a car in order to travel up to the island’s tallest peak, Haleakala, at dawn. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll get to see the sun rise out over the clouds, a sight that you’re likely to treasure forever.
