We’re Shipping Up To Boston

Boston Brownstones

There’s no turning back now.

We quit our jobs.

Vacated our apartment.

And moved all our belongings to Boston (chez parents).

Unemployed, living at home, and eating Cheerios for breakfast – stopping here would be a nightmarish reversion back to senior year of high school (minus the curfew and plus 50k in the bank).

There are those moments where the trip ceases to be a distant future and becomes an impending reality. The first of those was when we bought the plane tickets. But then, like the day after the latest Kim Kardashian gossip, we forgot all about it and went on with our daily lives.

The second is now.

Even so, the idea of changing our minds and delaying our trip would be so embarassing, I think I’d have to follow through with the facade and just photoshop myself all through Asia (just in case I’m taking some stock photos of various facial expressions that I am predicting to have on the trip).

It’s been an adventure getting up to this point, right up to the very end. If I had structured this article differently, I probably would have written about the stressful 5pm move out deadline after a work day filled with fire drills, loading two-year’s worth of “stuff” into the Budget truck, driving the behemoth to Jersey, getting pulled over by a state trooper for having my day lights on, and finally arriving at our pit stop 1.5 hrs late at 1AM, just in time for the Red Bull to wear off.

Instead I’ll just mention it offhandedly in a run on sentence…

Oh well! On to more interesting times. Japan awaits us and I have BIG expectations.

As a slight teaser, I’ll mention that one of our Japanese couchsurfing hosts is a 71 year old sky diving enthusiast.
