Unlikely Romantic Getaways

Valentine’s Day-one of the most romantic days of the year! Now, before we begin, let warm up with a few questions that many couples may not ask themselves: What do you and yours think contributes to the success of your relationship or marriage? Could it be taking regular holidays or short breaks together? Perhaps it’s accepting each other’s faults or having a regular date night? Do you and yours even celebrate Valentine’s Day every year? (Men answer carefully!)

Personally, I think a successful relationship stems from a deep understanding of what the other people want, and it seems in a recent survey by Monarch people agree. A lot of people think, on the surface, if there is no fighting it means that nothing is wrong. How many of us, however, have been in a situation where we did nt agree with it but went along with it anyways? This leads to passive-aggressive behavior and an unhappy relationship. By understanding what people want we can make the appropriate concessions. Actually, a healthy argument now an again can be good for the relationship. For example, from the survey when asked “How many times do you have a healthy argument” people said 3 times per month

While those questions are being pondered on, it is only fitting, with this romantic day approaching, that we discuss some of the most ideal destinations for couples. Now, when most people think about romance they probably think about Paris, as that city has just about cornered the market on being the most romantic destination on Earth. For now, we are going to discuss some other cities that sere as unlikely romantic getaways. From Rome to Madeira to Barcelona, you and your sweetie are guaranteed to fall in love all over again with these amazing locations, so let’s begin shall we??

Rome

When it comes to romantic escapes with you and that special someone, whether for Valentine’s Day or otherwise, there is no better place to celebrate your romance than the city where it all began-Rome. Legend has it that the ‘martyred’ priest, Valentine, was locked up for performing marriage ceremonies after it was banned in ancient Rome – and supposedly he sent the jailor’s daughter a letter signed ‘from your Valentine’. So you can see how Rome’s romantic reputation and ambiance is second to none! Italian’s are expressive, emotional and enthusiastic about falling in love, being in love, and truly believes that ‘love can conquer all’, not to mention their passion is contagious which makes people return time and time again to get married more than any other city in the entire world!  Not convinced? Barcelona

Everyone knows the Spaniards have a passion for, well, passion. Why then, should Barcelona not be on the top of your list? Although it may not be your typical choice for a destination that oozes romance, thriving, and gorgeous Barcelona has a lot to offer, for all couples, whether you’ve been together for a few sweet months or years. Get lost in each other all over again while exploring this fabulous, and simply romantic, city. Journey throughout Barcelona during the day and see the amazing works by famous architect Gaudi or hire out a pair of bikes and explore the Port and beach front. Or perhaps you would like to take the Cable Cars across the city skyline and view the city from another, but just as amazing, level. Simply defined, Barcelona is a fun-filled city to explore with that special and will undoubtedly keep you returning for more!

Madeira

When it comes to this romantic destination, there certainly more to it that meets the eye. Madeira is without a doubt, more than high teas and lavish gardens. In fact, it was rated by the India Times as being one of the top 10 most romantic places to see before you die! From off-roading (for the more adventurous couples) to amazing island scenery, there is something for every couple, young or old. The exquisite floral displays is what Madeira is predominantly known for, so its recommended for couples to visit in the spring when the entire island virtually resembles a gigantic botanical garden. Also, another treat for lovebirds, is the gorgeous, couples-only hotel, Savoy Gardens; from incredible views of the sea to various entertainment on the roof for guests, visitors to the Savoy Gardens will certainly choose this hotel time and time again.
