Imagine, if you will: you’re a normal guy going about your life quite comfortably, minding your own business, and then you are kidnapped by a gang of crazy clowns. They blindfold you, fly you to an unknown location, drive you along bouncy terrifying roads, board you onto a small airplane, and then take off your blindfold, and jump out of the plane with you attached to one of them in a tandem jump. And you fall into a completely foreign country and are expected to assemble a circus.

Sounds a bit like some sort of mad James Bond movie crossed with a Stephen King novel, no? But this is the beginning of one of the episodes in Heineken’s new “Dropped” campaign. It is marketed as a social experiment – take ordinary people and drop them in an unknown location with tasks to fulfill.
Click here to watch the video I just described. It stars South African photographer and designer Clint Jacobs, and he gets dropped in Poland by crazy looking clown people. This is just the beginning of his adventure. To watch the whole thing, follow the links from that video on Youtube.
It’s a great campaign – entertaining, and relatable. Heineken have used the ‘reality TV’ style really well to create something a bit different and very amusing. They seem to pick interesting people to ‘drop’, and it is pretty awesome watching these people react to their new environments. It’s well worth an afternoon’s YouTube trawling. Really innovative and entertaining stuff.
