How To Maximize Your Montreal Vacation

If you are planning a trip to Montreal this summer, the following information may help you to get the most out of your Canadian vacation, but be warned – after you visit this incredible city, you may want to learn how to immigrate to Canada so you can move to magnificent Montreal!

First of all, if you will be traveling to Montreal from outside of the country, be sure to check whether or not you will need a Canada visa.  The Canadian government requires visitors from many different countries to have a Canada visa, however, travelers from several other countries do not need a Canada visa.  If you use a travel agent, they should be able to inform you whether a Canada visa will be required for your trip to Montreal, but you can also check for yourself.  Whether or not a Canada visa is required, there are other criteria you and those traveling with you must meet for entering Canada as a tourist.

Okay – assuming that you are eligible to visit Canada and have whatever is necessary to enter the country, another important issue to maximize your Montreal vacation is the timing of your trip.  If you’re a jazz-lover, you will want to schedule your vacation so that you can enjoy the famous Montreal International Jazz Festival usually held in downtown Montreal at the very end of June and first week of July.  And if you appreciate the soothing sounds of classical music, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra will be a highlight of your trip (be sure to wear proper attire)!

No trip to Quebec’s largest city would be complete without visiting Montreal’s many amazing museums!  These include the Museum of Fine Art, Place des Arts, Museum of Archaeology and History, and the Canadian Railway Museum.  Another must-see place with lots to do is Old Montreal where you will find several great restaurants, shops, galleries, and a good feel for Montreal’s French-Canadian heritage.  There are also several beautiful gardens and churches (such as the Notre Dame Basilica) in Montreal, plus Mount Royal offers a breathtaking view of this spectacular city.

Careful planning (made easier by the Internet) can help you to intelligently schedule the ultimate Canadian vacation (and book your reservations and buy your tickets in advance).  As you conduct your research about Montreal, however, you may end up wanting to learn how to immigrate to Canada! Not only is Canada one of the top tourist destinations in the world (35 million people visit annually), but Canadian immigration also attracts about 250,000 new permanent residents each year.
