Sri Lanka is also known for its tea and Nuwara Eliya is the tea capital of the country. In Yala National Park for example, you can have the chance of seeing and interacting with different types of animals such as leopards, water buffaloes and elephants. You can also see fountains, gardens and ponds in Sigiriya. Because of the view and ancient history this place has, many people have considered this as the eighth wonder of the world.
- Polonnaruwa: Whenever you hear or see the word Sri Lanka, ancient art and architecture would usually come into picture. If you want to see these for yourself, make sure to include Polonnaruwa in your travel. This place was the capital of the island hundreds of years ago and was famous for being a commercial and religious hub. Aside historical treasures of Sri Lanka through Polonnaruwa, you can also see many tombs, temples and status in this location – all in good conditions.
- Dambulla: Sri Lanka is not only known for its ancient history but for the arts, as well. Dambulla has the best-preserved cave temple complex in all of Sri Lanka. This holds five cave temples, making it the largest in the country. In one of the temples, you can enjoy a huge collection of Sri Lankan artwork which includes murals and shrines. There are also paintings and statues which depict Buddha’s life – Dambulla is basically the fusion of art and history! You can also see 153 Buddha statues around the area, not to mention other statue subjects. A mural also covers 2,100 square meters of the area.
