7 most memorable hollywood taxi drivers that have been engraved in time

Taxi rides can be very memorable and fun if your taxi driver is is interesting. I was recently travelling in a silver service taxi in melbourne when I met this really funny taxi driver; he had so many stories to tell. While I was talking to him, my mind kept telling me that he will make for a great character in a movie. Anyhow, in that ride, my mind revisited some of my favourite hollywood taxi drivers, and i thought to list them down here.

So, here you go.

• Lloyd (Dumb and dumber): The world would not have been able to see the great and funny adventures of Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) if Lloyd was not a driver. Our two dim-witted lead characters set out on a rather adventurous journey owing to that one special customer “Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly)”, whom Lloyd falls madly in love with. He is the driver of the Limo that she takes to the airport and thus begins a laugh riot.
• Travis Bickle (Taxi driver): Who can forget Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro)? No one. Martin Scorsese gave us yet another villain that got engraved in our memories forever with Taxi Driver. De Niro played the role effortlessly and even received an oscar nomination for it. The vietnam war veteran who says “are you talking to me?” in the mirror, is really hard to forget.
• Max Durocher (Collateral): The 2004 blockbuster Collateral introduced us to the unsuspecting and hardworking Max Durocher (Jamie Foxx). In this crime thriller Max finds himself amongst a highly dangerous position. He just wanted to earn enough to start his Limo business, but rather unluckily he finds himself hostage when an evening his customer Vincent (Tom Cruise), who is a hitman, hires him for the whole night.
• Hoke Colburn (Driving miss daisy): The character of Hoke Colburn (Morgan Freeman) is just as legendary as the film it was in, Driving miss daisy. The film took home 4 awards at the Academy and swept hearts with its beauty. Freeman’s character is an African American chauffeur in Atlanta, Georgia, and faces problems due to racial prejudice.
• Matt Nolan (Taxi!): Matt (James Cagney) is a taxi driver in whom the other taxi drivers find a leader is quick and hot tempered. His fiery nature quickly lands him on the bad side of the young and beautiful Sue (Loretta Young), who is Pop Riley’s (Guy Kibbee) daughter. However, our ever charming hero Matt does pursue and win her over.
• Ghost of Christmas Past (Scrooged): Frank (Bill Murray), a shrewd executive who is hated by many because of his inconsiderate and rude personality; such was his awful nature that he denied bonus to the employees who refused to work on the holiday. On one fateful christmas eve, he is visited by the three ghosts of christmas. When he boards a taxi without knowing what he was in for, he gets into the taxi of the Ghost of Christmas Past (David Johansen). Johansen has carried out the role impeccably and made it a life riot with his great comic timing.
• Korben Dallas (The Fifth Element): In this action thriller, the planet earth is in grave danger and Dallas is responsible for saving it from the impending attack. A taxi driver who saves our planet, now does that look like a character that can be forgotten? No, right? Bruce Willis did a great job in portraying the role of Korben Dallas who is a taxi driver and also a former special forces major.
