Why You Should Travel Around the World in an RV

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain, The Innocents Abroad/Roughing It

I believe that travelling to another destination, whether close by or across the world, should be a mandatory part of every person’s education. Age is not a factor, nor is distance a factor. Mark Twain’s quotation mentioned above states that travel has the incredible ability to broaden our minds as well as teach us compassion and empathy for those who are not as fortunate as we are.

The reality is that not everyone is financially wealthy; therefore, the first argument that springs to mind is how can economically disadvantaged families travel if they can barely afford to feed themselves? This is a valid point; however, it is possible to visit different places close by that are not expensive. The takeaway point here is that it’s not about the distance; it is about the journey.

RV: The advantages of taking your home with you

As stated above, there are many ways to visit different locations. One of the ways is to hire an RV from a company like Campanda and then drive yourself around. Before we look at the benefits of hiring an RV, let’s look at what it is:

Simply stated, a recreational vehicle (RV) is a “motor vehicle or trailer equipped with living space and amenities found in a home.” In other words, an RV is akin to a mobile home or a motor home.

Now that we understand what a recreational vehicle is, let’s have a look at some of the advantages of hiring a RV for your latest vacation:

A home away from home

The RV is kitted out with sleeping, living, bathroom, as well as dining facilities. It has gas or propane tanks to power the stove and the refrigerator. While you are driving from one destination to the next, the vehicle’s batteries provide power to run the electrical systems. Once you have parked the RV, there is a gas or diesel powered generator to power the electrical systems. Furthermore, there is a water tank for fresh water, grey water tank for water from the sink and shower, as well as a black water tank for the toilet waste. In other words, you have a fully kitted out vehicle that replaces the function of both a hotel and a restaurant.

Freedom to travel without planning your journey in advance

The best part of a motorhome is that you do not have to book hotel accommodation in advance. Additionally, you pack your clothes and other essential items at the start of the journey, and you unpack everything at the end of the trip. You can plan your first night’s destination and then take it day by day. If you feel like moving on, you pack up and move on. Otherwise, if you want to stay in the same area for a few more days, you can stay.

Final words

The beauty of seeing the world in an RV is that not only does it provide you with home comforts, but it also gives you the freedom and flexibility to explore an area without the constraints of needing to pre-book hotel accommodation.
