Red – Where we are going
Green – Where we are
Blue – Where we’ve been
Hi there! Vicki, I saw your comment over on One Giant Step about your Japan itinerary. My husband and I agree if we had a do over for our RTW trip, we’d only spend two weeks in Japan instead of four. While there were many parts of our Japanese segment we enjoyed immensely, we never felt a super strong connection there and our slow pace left us bored at times. Considering how much Japan cost, we felt like we could have experienced a lot of the same things in less time. Others have enjoyed spending a longer period, and you won’t know how you feel until you get there, but I thought I’d share my thoughts. Plus you are right about early adrenaline. At the beginning of our trip we were like kids in the candy store grabbing all we could. That pace is hard to sustain long term but that’s the beauty of long term travel – you can switch up your style according to your present mood!
Will be interesting to see how we feel about Japan – especially since it’ll be the first country on our list and the first time we travel in Asia. I’m sure the adrenaline will keep us going for a little while – just last September we took an 8 day “vacation” in Greece during which time we saw and did so much that when I tell people our itinerary they really look bewildered. So, although we won’t get to see everything 2 weeks should be enough to dip into the culture and see the sights at least a little bit. Thanks for commenting!
