But with so many internationally renowned landmarks to choose from, just which is the city’s most famous?

Notre Dame

Located on an island in the middle of the Seine, everyday around 30,000 people visit this world-famous cathedral, with visitor numbers up to 50,000 per day in the peak season.

This adds up to a whopping 13 million a year, almost twice the number that visit the Eiffel Tower and making the cathedral the thirteenth most visited tourist attraction in the world.

Sacre-Coeur

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Paris, or Sacre-Coeur as it’s more commonly called, towers over the north of Paris offering breathtaking views of the city and its sky line.

With 10.5 million visitors climbing its steps every year, the church comes close to rival Notre Dame when it comes to pulling power and currently ranks as the world’s seventeenth most visited attraction.

The Louvre

Home to the Mona Lisa (arguably the most famous picture ever painted) as well as many other internationally renowned artefacts, the Louvre can compete with any art gallery in the world when it comes to fame.

The glass pyramid at the centre of the square marks the entrance to the gallery, currently welcoming around 8.5 million visitors a year.

The Eiffel Tower

Standing 320 metres high, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most dominating features of the Parisian skyline.

The famous silhouette has spawned many copycat designs around the world from Las Vegas to Blackpool and with almost 7 million visitors a year it has to be one of the top contenders for most famous landmark in Paris.
